The Quiz

My Answers to 20 Questions to a Better Relationship
eXpressive: 5/10

Practical: 5/10
Physical: 6/10
Giver: 4/10
You are a RPYT--Reserved Practical Physical Taker. This makes you a Stoic. You are intelligent, rugged, disciplined and profound. Even if you're saddled with a desk job, you are starving for the outdoors. You are very slow to warm up to people, and people are slow to warm up to you, but once they know you they never forget you. You do not get much attention from your target sex, and this means you can feel unloved or unwanted. This is not the case! You are just a hard nut to crack, and your social anxiety leaves you overlooked or outside the frame altogether. What is good for you is increments of low-interaction group activity, like sports or outdoor work. The person who can chop wood with you will melt your heart. In a long term relationship, you are loving and devoted. You are calm in a conflict until your partner presses your buttons -- it's never the problem at hand that gets under your skin, but how your partner handles it. Don't take offense! Sometimes it's just the only way your partner knows how to express things. You would never cheat, and your approach to sex is conventional and almost prudish. But sex for you is a release and a necessity of life, and you have a sense of entitlement about it that can be trouble. Make sure your partner is comfortable and satisfied -- by communicating both in and out of the bedroom -- and you will be more satisfied yourself. You may take a lot of what your partner does for granted. Make a special effort to reward and validate him/her, and you will be repaid in spades. You have nice legs.Of the 33959 people who have taken this quiz, 4.2 % are this type.

Fixed & Ready for Action

It's Monday - please hold a moment of silence for Laura Branigan. She died over the weekend at age 47 of a brain aneurysm. Let this be your warning: If you have a nagging headache for two weeks please see a doctor!

Fuego & The Boy are home! They drove up with Ginger & Fred in their new Subaru last night to crash at our place for a few days. Their subletters are in their apt. for another few days so we get to be transitional housing for the homeless. We wondered how our boys would get along with Ginger in their home turf. We took them all into the back yard to get acquainted and Timm loves to run laps with Ginger - she can keep up with the Greyhound sprints! After an hour of running we thought they may be tired and it would be safe to move inside. Timm lost interest inside but Otis now loves her and wants to hump her 24-7. Outside Otis couldn't care less about her - inside is his love shack and she will submit to the ball-less dog mounting her over & over again. She finally learned that by sitting down she removed access to the bits of interest to Otis. That didn't stop him from trying every position in the Dogma Sutra. All dogs available for viewing at www.dogster.com

We left our boys home with Fuego, The Boy & Ginger - Good luck. We hope the house is standing when we return home this evening.

I guess I better get some of the work out of my "in-box" before the end of the month. Sheesh people want insurance!

Cheers - Have a great week!

Been A While

Sorry for the delay. I knew I wouldn't be a regular daily poster when I started this - you were warned!

So 2 weeks ago the whirlwind began and I think tonight might be the first night since 8/13 that I'll be at home after work with nothing to do. It will be nice to sit on the couch and relax. Please don't let Jane get a project into her head.

For the last six months we've been planning, list-making, doing project and tinkering with details of the wedding & honeymoon. Now that it's over what will we focus on? I got lucky for most of the honeymoon - all we "planned" was where should we stop for a drink? should I get the large or super sized margarita? Carnitas or something else? Seven glorious days of no lists, no plans, no future projects. I knew it couldn't last long - the whole ride home on the last day Jane kept blurting out her plans for the fall... organize garage clean-out, clean the gutters, call contractors to fix the house, blah blah blah.

Damn you, Jane Lowers! Can't you ever just sit and do nothing and plan for nothing? Nope - and that is the life I have committed myself to. For better or worse... Wait - that wasn't one of our vows!

On day two back at work my computer crashed. Loud clicking noises followed by frozen screens & computer shut-down. This is not good since I process payroll and the payroll software is only stored on my hard drive. So panic sets in, computer guy is called and I hope he can recover my computer quickly! I work on very strict time limits here. People get mad if their paychecks are not on time.

Happy discovery of the week: Window's Media radio tuner streams my favorite internet station - radioioAccoustic - for free. If you go direct to radioio you must subscribe! Yahoo... Happy me. So I've been listening to lots of cool "new to me" accoustic artists.

So, there is my update. Sorry to be away for so long. Someday I'll get used to this blogging thing and maybe get addicted to the posting like everyone else does.

I wish www.dooce.com a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself and return home to your family soon!

Gee, Thanks

The fiance complimented me on my blog today! The professional editor likes my writing. I hate writing and got very bad grades when we studied grammer in school. Wow - I'm all puffed up now.

Maybe she's just being nice to me?

Last night we got down to the nitty-gritty of last minute things to do before the big day. So I spend 30 minutes cleaning off my bedside table and the drawers. It's been a place to collect books, magazines, glasses of water, empty glasses, crap and dust for over 2 years. Why did it need to be cleaned last night? Because I didn't want to clean the bathroom, change the sheets or vaccuum the house so it'll be clean when our guests arrive tomorrow! AVOIDANCE!

Oh, yes - I found shoes at Nordstom after work. Talk about customer service... As I'm walking around display after display of shoes with an armful of possibilities how many commission based sales people asked if they could help me? 7. Yes, seven sales people approached me in 10 minutes. I kept answering "not yet" "no help yet thanks" "- I like to shop incognito, anonymous, alone, unbothered. When I had the 6 shoes I thought would work and were worth a try-on I found the first sales guy to approach me. Off he trotted (having memorized the 6 shoes) and returned with other options based on what I had collected! Go Nordstrom. I tried on the best of the bunch first - they fit, they felt good, they were less than $40... SOLD!

Gay Friendly Mom

My mom just called to inform me that this Saturday is "Out at the Ballpark" day at the A's game.

NO - we didn't know this was on the calendar when we booked our 50 seats for the post wedding activity for our family & friends.

HOW PERFECT CAN IT BE? The Gods must be smiling!

I once met a bride who had no shoes

If I don't find shoes at the 3 story discount shoe warehouse during lunch today I will be barefoot at my wedding! Wish me luck.

It seems to be coming together - only about 5 items on the TO DO list remain. Most of those are to be done on the day of.

Shout Out to a few who have eased our burdens:
- the MacDonald siblings for jumping in with balloon / helium assistance & being catering staff
- Katherine for taking over the appetizer shopping & set up
- Baby Kate for bearing the rings... don't drop them in a storm drain!
- Fuego & Elmar for burning CDs with dance songs. Now we'll have more than disco to dance to!
- Dad for getting the keg which will keep me on even keel during the night... mmm Boont Amber!
- Tripp & Kate for officiating at this "un-official event". You guys rock my liturgical world.

I think we've done all we can for the day. Oh, I need shoes. Cheers!

One Week Away

Anyone need to kill some time? http://www.hangman.no/

A shot of codeine cough syrup and bed-time of 9PM = great night of sleep! I love to self-medicate.

I don't have much to say today --- do I ever? This weekend has a wedding reception & lots of shopping, planning and crossing of TO DO items. There is an eerie calm in the house. I'm sure a storm will erupt soon!

I'm off to do brainless work and not think about all the things I need to think about.

Question(s) of the day: Why don't people return response cards? Don't they want to eat and sit down?

One day closer

Well, last night we crossed a few more items off the list of TO DO. Laney got instructions for the boys & the house. We both finished our photo boards. We got a few tables reassigned. I started to finalize the music list - iTunes & me = a love hate relationship. Now we're down to the last 2000 items to do.

Question of the day: is anything cuter than a 2 yr old wanting you to come over to swim and asking "will you put on your babbing soup?" I love that damn kid!

Off to work...
